Mortal Kombat 9 (2011)

The story begins at the end of Armageddon. Raiden, about to be killed by Shao Kahn, sends a message to his past self: "He must win." The timeline resets to the original tournament. Raiden tries to change the future, but at a heavy cost—most of Earthrealm's defenders are killed by Sindel, leaving only a few survivors to face the threat.

Mortal Kombat X (2015)

Set 25 years after MK9, a new generation of fighters (Cassie Cage, Jacqui Briggs, etc.) leads the charge. The fallen Elder God Shinnok returns to corrupt the Jinsei (Earth's life force). The story explores the friction between Outworld's new ruler, Kotal Kahn, and the Special Forces of Earthrealm.

Mortal Kombat 11 (2019)

Kronika, the Keeper of Time, is furious with Raiden for upsetting the balance. She merges the past and present timelines, bringing young versions of the characters face-to-face with their older selves. The saga ends with Fire God Liu Kang defeating Kronika and gaining the power to restart time from the very beginning.

Mortal Kombat 1 (2023)

Welcome to a New Era. Fire God Liu Kang has crafted a peaceful universe where old enemies are now allies. Sub-Zero and Scorpion are brothers, and Mileena is a beloved princess. However, a mysterious threat from a parallel timeline emerges, forcing Liu Kang to gather his champions once more in a battle for all of reality.
